Lauren Lately...

Lauren is loving school!  And, everyone at school loves Lauren too... she is so sweet and has made 2 really good friends that she knows their names and many that she can't name still.  I was worried about her and spent many days the first 2 weeks dropping her off and sitting there crying, parked where I could still see the kindergarten playground.  She is still only 4 and has a late b-day (october) and we had some testing done prior to leaving AZ last school year to see is she had any developmental delays, etc.  She tested as needing help this year in the head start program in AZ for developmental delays and language and speech issues.  When we moved her though she qualified for the kindergarten cut off which is in December and wouldn't put her into headstart for this reason.  So, she started kindergarten.

She loves everyone and has no stranger danger, which scares me the most.  I had to watch her walk into her class every morning to make sure she didn't walk away with anyone or get lost because she is still very unaware of her surroundings or what is expected of her.  She has great teachers though and we have met with a team of educators who will be helping her with her delays, speech and language.  The head specialist for the entire district syas that he thinks it's neurological and more testing may have to be done and they will work closely with us throughout the school year and years to come to do what's best for her.  Worse case scenario is she repeats kindergarten too, but she won't even be bothered by that because she just loves school!  I feel better having a plan for her and meeting the good people that are on her team!  :)
