Laurens Birthday Camping Trip...

Laurens birthday comes the week of Halloween each year and with all of the school parties, church parties, and other get to-gethers (?) parties are hard.  This year in lieu of a party she really wanted to go camping for the first time!  Daddy & Daron get to go every month and she begs to go with them, so that's what we did.  It was a weekend that we knew it was going to rain but we decided to go anyway because there wouldn't be another weekend that would work until after the holidays and then it's REALLY cold.  So we grinned and bore it, took rain coats, lots of warm clothes and blankets, yummy food, warm hot chocolate and smores, games, etc... and headed off.  We were lucky to camp at a site with a large outdoor pavillion which kevin set our tent up next to, so we had lots of covered space.  He & Daron taught kaitlin & Maddie how to make a fire and that fire kept going ALL night even with the terrential (?sp) down pour!  Kevin made us yummy beef kabobs and I made garlic bread... and though not pictured we had an awesome breakfast of scrambled cheesy eggs, fried seasoned potatoes, grilled ham steak, bacon, and grapes!  Of course after it rained for a few hours our tent began to leak and we feared everyone would be cold & wet all night and end up sick, so after being in our tent since about 5:30pm (HA ha)... at about 6:30pm Kevin gave all of the kids piggy back rides to the tahoe and we went home and watched the last installment of Harry Potter with Hot Chocolate and slept in our warm beds!  We woke up and went back at 7am the next morning and had a yummy breakfast. It always tastes good cooked over a camp stove!  Everything was good and soaked inside the tent and there was lots of laundry to do, but it was well worth the fun time we had!

Setting up...

Emmy was loving this...

A happy birthday girl for sure...

Emmy was NOT happy without her bed...  It took her awhile to calm down...

All snugly...

Daron is looking at the girls like they're nuts!  It was not quiet in that tent for sure!

Kaitlin looked so CUTE in her beanie hat!

maddie, the emmy whisperer!  She always gets her to be happy...

The birthday girl!

kaitlin and Daron trying to fit ALL of their blankies in kaitlins coat before she got her piggy back ride to the car!  Heaven forbid they'd have to sleep with a different blanket that night!

She looked like a cute, reheaded, santa!

They cracked me up!

Rides into the garage at home...

We had a blast!!!!  We're gonna try it again in the spring!

Those are the kind of camping trips I like. The ones where you sleep in your own bed at home. I can totally sympathize with Emmy. "What the heck?" What a fun memory for Lauren's birthday. A crazy camping trip.
